Industrial Wastewater
Treatment & Zero Liquid Discharge

TL Environment RO and MBR membranes are deployed in industrial wastewater treatment systems worldwide, supporting zero liquid discharge targets and water reuse in manufacturing, chemical, and power generation industries.

CHALLENGE & SOLUTION

Achieving Zero Liquid Discharge with Membrane Technology

Industrial wastewater streams present some of the most challenging conditions for membrane systems: high suspended solids, variable organic loading, elevated temperatures, and complex chemical compositions. Achieving zero liquid discharge (ZLD) requires a multi-stage membrane process combining biological treatment, microfiltration, and high-recovery reverse osmosis.

TL Environment's MBR modules provide the biological treatment and solid-liquid separation stage, producing a high-quality permeate with TSS <1 mg/L and turbidity <0.2 NTU — directly suitable as RO feed water without additional pre-treatment. The downstream RO stage, using TL-HR or TL-FR elements, concentrates the remaining dissolved solids for final evaporation or crystallization, completing the ZLD circuit.
